“Forodhani” House means “look-out” post in Kiswahili, a name which reflects its location at the edge of the jetty overlooking the channel between Lamu and Manda Island. This is a fairly new house and has a stunning location, one of the best in Shela, right on the waterfront at the edge of the Village. You can literally step out of the garden onto the 12km Shela Beach, a few footsteps from the famous Peponi Hotel. The house is a beautiful large whitewashed building, built in authentic Swahili style. During your stay here you will find yourself lulled by the lapping waves and cooled by the gentle sea breeze as you watch the dhows sailing by, and the life of this charming sleepy fishing village carrying on before your eyes. You will love the dinners served by the side of the pool under the arcades, in the garden or on the terrace overlooking the beach. Alternatively you could choose a romantic dinner on the rooftop terrace. From all areas of the house you have spectacular views across the pool, of the sea and the channel across to Manda Island.
On the ground floor, the kitchen, the dining terrace, the large lounge alongside the pool and the garden all offer possibilities for dining and relaxing. Walk from one room to the other in this spacious house through arched galleries, with traditional plasterwork, niches and friezes which ornate the white walls. All areas of the house offer magnificent views out to the sea. This is a 3 storey holiday house, the living areas and rooms are open and airy, offering a variety of places for guests to relax or dine.
