Kisimani House

Originally built in the late 18th Century for the Caliph of Zanzibar, Kisimani has been carefully restored, extended and beautifully furnished in Swahili style. The atmosphere is out of the Arabian Nights, complete with a traditional central open courtyard, its massive walls and decorative plasterwork ensuring an exotic setting in total privacy. There are 4 ensuite double bedrooms, two with hot water, miscellaneous single beds, a large open air living/dining terrace and private verandas at each level.

The two top levels have spectacular views of the ocean, the archipelago and of life in Shela. A minutes walk brings you to Peponi Hotel and the endless white sand dunes of Shela Beach. Kisimani House can accommodate 8 people. There is a plentiful supply of fresh water from its own deep well. Sammy the cook will prepare the most delicious meals and together with Fred the house steward, will do all your shopping, keep accounts, cook and clean.
